FAQs

Does Cascade Massage Therapy bill directly to my insurance plan?

Yes, we can however, not all insurance companies allow for direct billing. These are the companies we are currently direct billing to: Pacific Blue Cross, Chambers of Commerce, Manulife, Sun Life, Canada Life (Great West Life), Equitable Life, Green Shield, GroupHEALTH, SSQ, The Co-Operators and Desjardins. Do I have to take my clothes off to receive a massage?

This depends on a few factors; patient comfort level, area being treated and what techniques are being used. For a treatment that may involve benchwork, stretching and active components, a sports bra/tank top and sports shorts is worn. For a more traditional relaxation or tissue manipulation treatment, then clothes may be recommended to be removed. However, this is always to the patient’s comfort level and can be discussed with the therapist at any time during the treatment.

What is CMTs cancellation policy?

CMT requires 24 hours' notice for all cancellations or changes to appointments. Patients who provide less than 24 hours' notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged the full cost of the appointment.

What forms of payment can I use?

CMT accepts cash, e transfer, debit, Visa, Mastercard and AMEX as forms of payment.

What is included in a registered massage therapy treatment?

A registered massage therapy treatment includes the following: discussion about the area of concern/condition, assessment of area/condition, hands on treatment, re-assessment, and home-care, such as exercises, stretches, and hyrdotherapy. For those who have not visited a registered massage therapist before, you are encouraged to watch this video made by the Registered Massage Therapists Association of BC.

How often should I be receiving massage therapy?

It all depends on the reason for your visit. For some injuries, more frequent sessions that are scheduled closer together can be beneficial. When it comes to stress and tension reduction, some patients choose to visit their RMT on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Your RMT can recommend the frequency of sessions at the end of each session.

How long should I book my initial treatment for?

For an initial treatment, it is recommended to book at least a 60-minute session. This allows sufficient time for the therapist to conduct a thorough assessment and medical history review to develop a safe and effective treatment plan. 30- and 45-minute sessions are more ideal for subsequent visits that are focusing on one area of the body (ex: jaw massage).
